I took this picture last night, marveling at the colors and the way the light shone across the sky. It doesn’t matter if it’s sunup or sundown, the dawn and dusk never cease to amaze.
As I drove on, a popular praise song from the 90s entered into my mind. It was one that I rarely heard music to because it was often tagged on to holy moments and sung a cappella as the Holy Spirit continued to move. The song is “From the Rising of the Sun”, based off Psalm 113.1-3. The lyrics go like this:
From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord shall be praised.
From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord shall be praised.
So praise ye the Lord.
Praise ye the Lord.
From the rising of the sun
to the going down of the same,
the name of the Lord shall be praised.
It doesn’t matter if it’s sunrise or sunset, the Lord is good and His name is worthy to be praised. Christians are those that know the love of God in Jesus Christ; they have received His salvation, and they return thanks at all times. We aren’t those who remember Him sometimes, but rather remember Him in all moments. Notice the line says, “The name of the Lord shall be praised.” Shall is a word of intent, assertion, and command. It isn’t a ‘maybe’; it is a ‘will/will do’ action.
May we see the sun in the morning and praise Him. May we see the sun in the evening and praise Him. And between sunup and sundown, may the name of the Lord be praised!
